Nepfex Pay: cashless, closed-loop payments for schools.

Cashless payments inside a school's own community, for the canteen, the bookshop, transport and fee top-ups, building on the student wallet and NFC ID card that already run inside GyanMul.

One wallet for the whole school day.

Cash at school gets lost, runs short and is hard to account for. Nepfex Pay is designed to replace it inside a school's own community, building on GyanMul school management software:

  • Canteen
  • Bookshop
  • Transport
  • Fee top-ups

How it will work

  1. Load

    A parent adds money to the student wallet that already exists in GyanMul, and sets how it can be used.

  2. Tap

    The student pays with the NFC ID card they already carry: at the canteen, the bookshop or on the bus.

  3. Accept

    The canteen, bookshop or transport operator accepts the payment in the Nepfex Pay merchant app.

  4. Reconcile

    Every payment is recorded once in a double-entry ledger, so the school reconciles automatically and parents see each purchase.

  • Parents see spending

    Every purchase will appear for the parent who loaded the wallet, as it happens.

  • Schools reconcile automatically

    Payments, refunds and merchant totals will come from one ledger, not from counting cash at the end of the day.

  • Merchants get paid simply

    Canteens, bookshops and transport will accept payments with a merchant app instead of handling change.

Built on the same security as GyanMul

  • Role-based access

    Parents, students, school staff, merchants and administrators each see only what their role allows.

  • Two-factor sign-in

    A second step at sign-in for the accounts that move or manage money.

  • Audit trails

    Every action that touches a wallet or a payment is recorded and attributable.

Where it stands: the wallet, its double-entry ledger, the merchant portal and app, merchant onboarding and the admin console with its audit trail are being built. Adding money to wallets and paying out to merchants stay switched off. Subject to regulatory approval from Nepal Rastra Bank. Not yet available.

We do not have a date to share. It will not open before regulatory approval from Nepal Rastra Bank.

How does it relate to GyanMul?

Nepfex Pay builds on the student wallet and NFC ID card that already run inside GyanMul, the school management platform made by the same company.

Who is it for?

Schools, the parents and students in them, and the canteens, bookshops and transport operators that serve them.

Can merchants outside a school use it?

It is designed as a closed loop around a school's own community: its canteen, its bookshop and its transport.
